Under Breast Incision

The incisions made under your breast are called as crease incisions or infra-mammary folds incisions. These incisions are normally used in the breast augmentation surgery and are one of the most popular forms of incisions. This is more or less similar to nipple incision and this is due to the fact that the location of the incision is such that it will permit the doctor to position the implants under the breast muscle – completely or partially and over the breast muscle. The main advantage in under breast incision is that it allows taking out the implants that were put inside your breasts earlier. There is a definite advantage in using under breast incisions. This is the possibility of doing future revisions on the breast implants by using the same incision. Some of the examples of such revisions are bottoming out, Symmastia or capsular contracture. Transax incisions do not give you this facility. If your breast augmentation was carried out earlier using transax incision then your surgeon has to make another incision in case there is a necessity for revision. This means that you will have more scars which might not be appreciated by you. If you opt for under breast incision there could be a maximum of only two scars that appeared at the time of performing the breast augmentation procedure; there could be additional one or two scars if the incision earlier was transax.

The major disadvantage in using under breast incisions is that your surgeon has to estimate the correct location of the incision. Fortunately many of the doctors involved in this type of surgery are having sufficient experience to make the incision at the correct location. It is important to realize that by opting for under breast incisions you are deprived of getting any modifications done to the breast size in future. If you attempt to change the size of the implant you will find that the scars will be visible and this is because of the location of the incision. The same logic applies when you want to remove your breast implants totally.

You must have realized that under breast incisions are quite beneficial if they are done properly; otherwise they could cause problems. This is the reason why you should go in for an experienced qualified surgeon to do the breast augmentation procedure.
