Male Liposuction
Many people are of the opinion that most of the cosmetic
surgeries including liposuction are suitable only for women.
This thinking is mainly because women are quite conscious about
their beauty and physical appearance; however of late men also
have started understanding the benefits that they could get by
plastic surgery. The popularity of liposuction surgery on men
has increased considerably because of the benefits they could
get out of this cosmetic procedure and this has helped both men
and women. The main problem here is that liposuction on men are
more costly than that on women. This is mainly due to the
reason that the bodies of men and women are built differently.
For example the fat in men is full of fibers. This makes it
difficult to remove this fat through surgery. Further the men
are big as compared to women. This obviously means that the
amount of fat to be removed is high.
Different areas of men’s bodies can be treated by male
liposuction procedures. Men are interested mainly in getting
rid of their love handles or layer of fat that is deposited
around their midsection i.e. their abdominal region. These fat
deposits do not go easily irrespective of the amount of
exercise or dieting a person does. It has been found that more
and more men opt to undergo liposuction procedure on their
faces. The areas of the face wherein liposuction is commonly
performed are chin, jowls and neck.
Gynecomastia is the technical term used for abnormal male
breast enlargement and this is the most commonly treated areas
for liposuction in men. The breast enlargement occurs in men
due to hormonal imbalances and there will be glandular tissue
accumulation or fat in that area. In such a situation you could
combine liposuction with other surgery procedures. This
procedure is good for making the size and volume of breasts
smaller. Normally the incisions required for this surgery are
very small and hence the scarring is hardly noticeable. Before
undergoing the surgery the doctor would like to determine the
type of tissue that is found excess in your breast. The doctor
would like to know whether it is fatty or glandular. If the
tissue is tested as a fatty tissue liposuction is the best
option available at present. On the other hand if the tissue is
found to be granular liposuction won’t succeed; hence you may
have to be treated with medications and/ or hormonal therapies.
If there are asymmetry as well as odd shapes you may have to be
tested more thoroughly. It is quite possible that this area is
affected by tumor and in such a situation you must establish
whether tumor exists or not before you opt for the surgical
procedure. The existence of tumor is normally determined with
the help of a mammogram. The physician will decide on exact
course of action after these tests and he will decide on the
necessity for doing male liposuction.
In fact gynecomastia is the only real problem treated with
male liposuction. It is possible to carry out this surgery on
anyone who wants to get rid of excess fat deposits. The surgeon
will give you all the details required for this surgery which
will include his recommendations and instructions. If you fail
to follow these things diligently you might face serious
problems. For example, certain medicines are likely to delay
the process of healing. If you combine other surgical
procedures with male liposuction you may have to look at other
issues. For example, combining liposuction and facelift
simultaneously might make you face the side effects of both
these procedures at the same time. You must realize that a
proper communication between you and the surgeon is the most
important requirement for a successful surgery. Otherwise you
will find that the time for curing will get prolonged.
